The Multi-Story Orchestra is more than just an Orchestra.

It's a community of professional musicians and young people who create extraordinary performances, tell stories and unleash creativity.

The Orchestra performs in car parks and unexpected spaces. The players bring powerful and meaningful music to life, and believe creating the best art means involving and valuing absolutely everybody. Since their first performance in Peckham ten years ago, we've performed across the UK, and broadcast the first ever BBC Proms performance in a car park.

The New York Times says: “They play heroically, they play loudly, and they’ll play anything…The response was ecstatic, and it deserved to be”

Emma spoke to artistic director, composer and co-founder of The Multi-Story Orchestra, Kate Whitley. Is the future of classical music, as The Times has suggested, emerging in a municipal car park?
